Maureen F. Lyons, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend, peacefully departed this world on September 9, 2026, just a day shy of her 89th birthday. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 10, 1937, Maureen was the beloved daughter of Ralph C. Murray and Anne M. (Lennon) Murray Murphy. Maureen grew up in a loving family alongside her six siblings, Edward ("Bunky") Murray, James Murray, and Geraldine Dugan, all of whom preceded her in death. She also shared a close bond with her surviving sisters, Patricia Stitch (Ron), Sheila Wile, and Kathleen Gannon, who together cultivated a warm and nurturing environment. A proud graduate of Quincy High School in 1955, Maureen embarked on a career that spoke volumes of her compassionate nature. After marrying in 1958, she and her husband built their home on Bay View Ave in Houghs Neck, Massachusetts, right next door to Nana and Papa Lyons. They lived happily in that home until 1970, when they took a leap and bought the farm in Brentwood, New Hampshire. There were many, many adventures experienced during those years (just ask the cousins!) When the kids were older, she took classes and then dedicated over 25 years of her life to serving as a nurse's aide at the Rockingham Nursing Home, where her gentle care and kindness touched the lives of countless individuals. Even after her official retirement, Maureen continued to provide private duty care, a testament to her unwavering commitment to helping others. Maureen was married to the love of her life, Jerome J. Lyons, for 53 years before he preceded her in death. Together they built a beautiful family, blessed with five children: Elizabeth (Jeffrey LeClair), Susan (Russell Prescott), Maureen (Mark Randlett), Kathleen (Timothy Schell), and Jerome Jr. (Debi). Her legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One thing that was very important to Maureen was keeping in touch with her extended family. There were many, many family reunions during the summers with more cousins attending than most people actually believe: 30 of us on just the Murray side of the family! She also leaves behind many, many friends and other extended family. A woman of many talents, Maureen was an avid reader and found joy in cooking, sewing, and knitting, crafts she mastered and taught to others. She had an uncanny ability to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, welcoming everyone who crossed her threshold with open arms, a smile, a hearty laugh, and a cup of tea. Known for her generosity, Maureen ensured that no one ever left her home hungry or empty-handed, often sending visitors on their way with homemade treats, homegrown produce or fresh eggs. Maureen’s home was a sanctuary for many over the years, a testament to her welcoming spirit and genuine warmth. Her life was a living example of compassion, hospitality, and love. There was a private burial at Tonry Cemetary in Brentwood NH where she was laid to rest with her late husband Jerome. In honor of Maureen's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping those in need. The family invites Maureen's friends and family to an informal Celebration of Life on October 11, 2026 at 12 noon, at 50 Little River Road, Kingston NH. Kindly RSVP.
