Pat was born in Fargo, ND on October 14, 1969 to Bob and Jean Harrold. After graduating from West Fargo High School in 1988, and studying Animal Science at NDSU, Pat graduated from the Peace Officer Training Program at UND-Lake Region in 1991. After working as a police officer in western North Dakota, he moved back to Fargo and then to the Twin Cities in 1995. Pat married Lauri in 1998, they bought a house in Coon Rapids, MN in 1999 and there they raised a daughter, Kathryn. After an amicable divorce in 2023, Pat moved to Indiana. Pat moved back to Minnesota in February 2026. Pat passed away at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN on March 17, 2026 after a long battle with kidney disease. Outside of work, Pat loved reading, fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, grilling, smoking meat and was known for his storytelling. While growing up, Pat was very active in 4-H, and in 1988 he traveled to Washington, DC where he was awarded the National 4-H Presidential Award by President Ronald Reagan. Pat went on to build a successful career as an IT Professional at companies like Sprint, Commvault, Datalink, Veritas and Symantec.
Pat is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Marilyn Jean Harrold.
Pat is survived by his father, Robert Harrold; sisters, Ericka Balken and Bonnie Knighton; daughter, Kathryn (Tristan) Harrold; former spouse, Lauri Harrold; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Route 47 Pub and Grub in Fridley, MN. Servers will be available for food and drink orders if you choose.
In lieu of flowers, please come with stories to share about Pat, or if you feel the need, please donate to the foundation of your choosing. Pat didn’t want this day to be filled with sadness, but with memories and celebration.
