March 22, 1962May 14, 2026

Jimmy Booker was born in Washington, DC on March 22, 1962 to James Avery Booker, Jr DDS and Deloris Bryant Booker. He graduated from Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, Illinois - Class of 1980, but will forever consider himself a Terra Linda High School Trojan, as he went through the Dixie School System in Marin County, California, from 1st through 10th grade. He attended the College of DuPage, where he wrote for the school newspaper; Bowie State University, where he was a member of the tennis team; and the illustrious Morehouse College, where he was a member of the Debate Team. He was married to Llauryn Iglehart, which produced the birth of his beloved son, Bradley. He worked in several different veins - first founding a courier service in Atlanta and then applying his winning personality with excellence to all facets of the restaurant industry. During the last years of his life, he was a member of Hillside Presbyterian Church; Decatur, Georgia; where he faithfully dedicated his time to serving those in need at the Food Pantry. Jimmy was passionate about all things to do with athletics, having been involved in sports since early childhood. He excelled in baseball, football, basketball, swimming and tennis. He was a member of the Marin County Freshman Football Championship team of 1976-77 at Terra Linda High School. His love for and interest in sports continued throughout his life, and he was very knowledgeable about facts and figures of all aspects of athletics. He loved collegiate sports and considered himself the #1 fan for Georgia Tech Football. Jimmy was known for his quick wit and warm smile. He was charming and charismatic - likeable and intelligent. He loved crowds and never met a stranger. He maintained close friendships from childhood, through his high school and college years into adulthood. People remembered him fondly. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jr - and by his loving partner, Sheril Martin. He is survived by his mother, Deloris; his son, Bradley (Cvetelina), his grandson, Marin; his sisters Karla and JaRita (John); his brother, Michael (Claudia); his lifelong best friend, Bradley O'Brien (for whom his son is named); his dear friend, Courtney Booker (that he thought of as a brother) and a host of other friends and relatives. Thank you to the many well-wishers who have supported Jimmy throughout his life and who will deeply miss him. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hillside Presbyterian Church Food Pantry.
