Donald Ray Goehring, Magnolia Beach, Texas

The most beautiful thing a person can leave behind is a smile on the face of those who think of them.

Friends and family will miss his daily phone calls, his spot at the dominoes table, and sharing memories at family gatherings.

Donald Ray Goehring He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and a life well lived.

Donald Ray Goehring, 81, of Magnolia Beach, Texas, entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday. He was born on September 24, 1944, in Yorktown, Texas, to Bernard and Edna Goehring. Donald attended Holy Cross Catholic School in Yorktown and later Goliad High School. He continued his education and became a Licensed Master Plumber. Donald was well known for his plumbing services, a lifelong career he practiced with dedication and pride. He was also known for helping others without hesitation or delay. Later, Donald moved to Schroeder, Texas, where he met his loving wife, Dean. They later made their home in Cuero. During her illness, Donald showed unwavering devotion, remaining faithfully by her side until her passing in 1993. He then made his way to Magnolia Beach, where he remained enamored with the beautiful coastal view from his back deck. Donald was a devout Catholic who found joy in serving his church. Earlier in life, he played guitar for the choir at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land and remained active in his faith throughout his life. Donald made many friends wherever he lived. He loved playing dominoes at the Senior Center in Port Lavaca and could often be found there, enjoying time and laughter with friends. On New Year’s Eve, he lost his home due to a gas heater explosion. In that difficult time, the community, family, and friends came together to support him and helped him get back on his feet. He spoke often about how much he loved and appreciated everyone for their kindness and generosity. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Edna Goehring; his wife, Dean Weber; his stepson, Al; and his nephew, Barry Goehring II. He is survived by his son, Donald Ray Goehring II and daughter-in-law, Tel; his grandson, Dylan; his brother, Barry Goehring (Kathy); his sisters, Lynette Davenport and Marcelyn Oliver (Ricki); as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A private family graveside service was held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Memory Gardens in Victoria, Texas. It was followed by a Celebration of Life hosted by his nephew, Ricki, and Kelsey Oliver for close family and friends.

In Donald’s memory, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca, Texas. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, DeLeon Mortuary, and Grace Funeral Home/Memory Gardens. We are grateful for your kindness and support during this time.
