John Murrell Moore, born on October 4, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on May 6th 2026. He was the beloved son of Robert and Theresa Moore. John spent his early childhood in Chicago before moving with his family to Denver, Colorado, at the age of eight. They settled in the Virginia Vale neighborhood, where he attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from George Washington High School. Even as a young man, John’s sharp intellect and natural curiosity made learning come easily to him. He went on to earn a double major in Accounting and Economics from Colorado State University (1974–1978). Driven by a lifelong passion for knowledge, he continued his studies at the University of Denver, where he received a J.D. from the Sturm College of Law, an MBA in Finance from the Daniels College of Business, and an LL.M. in Taxation through the Graduate Tax Program, graduating in 1981. Not content to stop there, he later earned a degree in Engineering Economics from the Colorado School of Mines in 1983. A dedicated attorney, John practiced law for many years in the Denver area. His career provided a strong foundation for the family he cherished, including his children and stepchildren. John lived life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. He loved sleeping in his backyard teepee, cruising in his beloved 1955 Jaguar Roadster on warm summer days, discovering new restaurants, and exploring local breweries. A committed fitness enthusiast, he proudly achieved membership in the 1,000-pound club through weightlifting. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren—especially swimming with them and dressing up as Santa Claus on Christmas eve to deliver those gifts—and enjoyed cooking for family on the grill. John’s curiosity, work ethic, and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and all whose lives he touched.
