2 Corinthians 5;6-8 Therefore being always of good courage knowing that we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord-we walk by faith nor by sight- be of good courage I say and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rachel Dunn

Rachel lived life with passion. Rachel could most often be found sewing for her family during the early years of her life. She made several of her nieces' school clothes. She had to give up the hobby only about two years ago. The other interest she had was volunteering she was awarded for her many thousands of hours at Salvation Army she had forty years of service with them. Although she did not have any biological children of her own, she has been involved in helping many children, she was a foster parent for many years besides family members she kept for parents to work. She loved babies. Bingo was an activity she truly enjoyed and continued to participate this year. That same enthusiasm carried into family, friendships, and community. Rachel will be remembered for her tenacity and fun for life.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Dunn, parents-Tarlton and Melina Dominick, three sisters- Henirietta Edwards, Francis Edwards and Elrita Raney, one brother Hazey Dominick all of Opelousas, La. and two nieces Josephine Leday of Opelousas, La and Lou Vander Jones of Houston, Tx. one nephew Ray Charles Edwards of Opelousas, LA.
Rachel is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews' caregivers - Lou Scott, Patrick Raney, Willie Leday (Juley), Janella Keller, Theresa Andrus, Melina Andrus, Connie Jacobs (Edmund), Minerva Roberts, Troy Young and Joshua Vida, Janella Cane, Lisa and Jermiah foster care children and other relatives a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 747 N. Union Stret Opelousas, LA. Visitation will be held from 8am to 9:30am at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home 907 N. Market Street Opelousas, LA.
The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to New Mark facility for the excellent care they provided. Also H. T. May funeral home, First Community Hospice all of Kansas City Mo. All of the people that showed support during our time of bereavement.
