Forever Loved, Never Forgotten
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of
Michael Wayne Strickland
May 25, 1967 – October 11, 2026
Michael was born on May 25, 1967 to James C. and Lois Ann Strickland. Michael attended Alleghany High School. He was a “Jack of All Trades”. He opened his own Body Shop where he worked with his Friend Terry Greene, he worked in furniture manufacturing plants, he was self taught on cars, plumbing and computers. Michael loved planting a garden, fishing, playing a guitar and he talked about how he loved to get out and mow the yard. That was his way of relaxing, he said. He took care of his former landlord Connie and her brother Steve (Janice Minton’s Mother and Uncle) as their health declined. He loved to talk about stories from his teenage years, most of them involved his Friends - Terry Greene and Larry Andrews. He spoke lovingly of his dog “Jeb” quite often. Jeb was his Chocolate Lab and “Man’s Best Friend” from 2003-2018.
Proceeded in death by: His Dad - James C. Strickland, Mom - Lois Ann Strickland, Siblings - Pamela Strickland Spencer, Jimmy “Jimi” Strickland, and Lori Strickland Herring.
Survived by: Sisters - Janie C. McGuire of SC, Brenda K. Brown of SC, Regina Meyer of AL, and Susan S. Edwards of NC Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews and Close Friends - Janice, Gene and Josh Minton, Terry Greene, Larry Andrews, and his 1985 Graduating Class from AHS.
There will be no funeral service. Michael donated his body to Science and his remains will be cremated and sent to Janie to rest beside his brother Jimi. (Per Michael)
