Jeffrey Allen Petree

January 18, 1961 – October 19, 2026

Jeffrey Allen Petree left this world unexpectedly on October 19th, 2026, at his home in rural Braymer, Missouri. Jeff was born to James Thomas and Bonnie Jo (McBee) Petree of Braymer on January 18, 1961, in Chillocothe, Missouri. Jeff was joined five years later by a baby sister, Mitzi Jo. Over the next twenty years, Jeff was blessed with eight additional half-siblings: Danette (Petree) Hendrickson, Karen (Milligan) Ferguson, Marsha (Milligan) Garrison, James (Jim) Petree, Penny (Milligan) Wekamp, Nancy (Milligan) Reid, Dedra Petree, and Roger D. Milligan. Jeff also has 5 stepsiblings: Brent Wooden and Brenda (Wooden) Weaver, Bonnie L. Fraser, Debbie (Fraser) McGinnis, and Eddie Fraser. Jeff comes from a large extended family, which is probably part of the reason why he has never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. Jeff's elementary education was provided by the Stet School system. During jr. high and high school, Jeff attended the Braymer School District. During his time in Braymer, he lived with his Grandma Ruth and Grandpa June Petree. Jeff learned many invaluable life lessons from them and credits them with his strong work ethic. They were two of his favorite people. After high school, Jeff enlisted in the US Army in 1982, and during his term in the service, he married Cody Holder, of Steeleville, MO and from this union, was born one daughter, June Britton Petree. After returning from military service, Jeff lived in Kansas City and worked for many years as a mechanic. He had a talent for fixing anything mechanical and could diagnose engine problems just by hearing an engine running. He was so gifted at this, that there are stories of him making "a diagnosis" over the phone for friends and family. While living in Kansas City, he was the manager of North Oak AMOCO station where he managed the operations for the fuel station and mechanic shop. As his career progressed, he managed the service department for Shawnee Mission Ford car dealership, worked at Bill Woods Ford and Hendrick Motors before moving back to Braymer. He was loved by all of his customers and was known for his kindness and going the extra-mile to help others. On November 30, 1996, Jeff married Kathy Weis, and a few years later, he left his job in Kansas City to join her fulltime in her mowing business. They have mowed countless yards and cemeteries together over the past 25 years. During this time, Jeff and Kathy also took over the family farm and began managing livestock and growing row crops in addition to their mowing. He continued to use his mechanical talents to fix equipment for family and friends and found that there wasn't anything Kathy and her dad, Leonard, could tear up that he couldn't fix. He was very proud of the work he did and took great pride in a job well done. He also respected the amount of physical labor it took to farm and mow and found a sense of accomplishment in finishing a good day's work. He and Kathy have worked side by side building these businesses.

Jeff was preceded in death paternal grandparents (June and Ruth Petree), his maternal grandparents (Joel "Whick" and Nellie Marie McBee) step-grandfather (Nathan Dingle), a granddaughter (Talia Ruth Petree), his stepfather (Edward Fraser), stepmother (Mary Petree), and mother-in-law (Ruth Weis).

Jeff is survived by his wife Kathy (Weis) Petree of Braymer; his father, James Thomas Petree of Independence, MO; his mother, Bonnie Fraser of Bowling Green, MO; father-in-law, Leonard Weis of Braymer, MO; daughter, June Britton Petree and grandson, Alistair Ash Crisp of Warner Robbins, GA; siblings: Mitzi Coates (Clint), of Bowling Green, MO; Danette Henderickson (Scotty) of Two Harbars, MN; Karen Ferguson of Holt Summit, MO; Marsha Garrison (Jay) of Louisiana, MO; Jim Petree of Independence, MO; Penny Wekamp (Joe) of Platte City, MO; Nancy Reid (Jason) of Cummings, GA; Dedra Petree, Kansas City, MO; and Roger D. Milligan (Becky Grummel) of Bowling Green, MO. Jeff also has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousin. He was raised as an Irish twin alongside one of his maternal aunts, Jackie (McBee) Ison, who was born eight months after Jeff. Together they made many found memories as children growing up and formed a special bond. Jeff's sweet and caring soul endeared him to others. He called his mother, his dad and his step-aunt, Imogene Milligan, every day to check on them, and he was always there to lend a hand to his family, friends and neighbors. Jeff also leaves behind several life-long friends that he held in his heart as family members and they are: Jon Foreman and Randy Anderson. His absence will leave a great void in the lives of all who loved him.

Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, in Braymer, MO, at a later date. A dinner to celebrate the life of Jeff Petree will follow the service for all of his friends and family. Information on graveside service and the Celebration of Life dinner will be announced in the coming week.
