Avis de décès George R Brown Jr
Forever in Our Hearts
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. - Psalm 23:1
Surrounded by family and love, we honor the life of
George R Brown Jr "Coach"
November 20, 1950 - October 8, 2026
Family was the heart of George's life. George married Maureen in 1971, and together they raised two children and welcomed six grandchildren. George loved sports, especially golf and hockey. He grew up playing hockey for Van Horn and was an avid golfer. In college, he was a scratch player. George had a love for woodworking that he acquired from his dad. He loved building things for his wife and kids. Over the years, he always loved the Labrador Retrievers in his life. Ben, Titan, Sherwood, Meg and Paddy were always there to welcome him home. George took great pride in his Italian heritage and few things made him happier then attending family gatherings at his parent's home on holidays. Known by many as Coach, George coached hockey at Easthampton High School and Westfield State University, and helped in the recruiting process when UMASS Amherst reentered Division 1 hockey in 1994. He had a keen eye for talent and spotted it in a number of young men who went on to play professionally. He gave his knowledge freely. He gave his love wholly. He lived a full life and leaves a lasting legacy in the many lives he helped improve.
Preceded in death by his Father, George Sr; Mother, Ella (Desimone); Sister Patricia (Maggio); Mother-in-law, Mary (Fenton) and Father-in-law, Patrick O'Connor.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, Maureen; Son Kevin and his wife Tracy of Wolcott, CT; Son George III and his wife Alison of Enfield, CT; Sister Kathleen of Enfield, CT. His Grandchildren, Tyler James, Alexandra Elizabeth, Eric "Tyler" Fraser, Richie Bournival, Kayla Bournival and Nicholas Frenette.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 5 to 7 PM at Leete-Stevens Funeral Home 61 South Rd, Enfield CT. Interment will be private.
