Anúncio de falecimento Claudette Marie Fickessen
In Loving Memory
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.”
After a period of declining health, we say goodbye to
Claudette Marie Fickessen "Dolly"
November 10, 1940 – June 19, 2026
Claudette "Dolly" Fickessen was a life-long Galvestonian who lived in her original house for over 85 years. She was a graduate of Ball High School in Galveston and had a career in the Right-of-Way Department with Galveston County from June 1982 until her retirement in January 2016. After retirement, Dolly loved to work in her garden raising roses. She was also especially fond of all her beloved feline companions over the years. Dolly was known for her genial personality, but with a spicy flare. Being a life-long resident of the island, Dolly could turn her calm demeanor to a salty commentary in a flash.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Joseph Fickessen, Sr. and Maybelle Marie (Stansfield) Fickessen and her two brothers, Arthur "A.J." Joseph Fickessen, Jr. and Boyd "Butch" Keith Fickessen.
Dolly is survived by her nephews, Eric Fickessen and wife, Mischelle, Kurt Fickessen, Karl Fickessen and wife, Christie, Keith Fickessen and wife, Lori, and Kyle Fickessen. She also had four great nieces, one great nephew, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on July 11, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Malloy Funeral Home, Galveston, Texas with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM. Interment of the cremated remains at Galveston Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society in Claudette Marie Fickessen's memory.
The family would like to give special recognition and undying gratitude to Dolly's home caregivers over the past year. Pam, Coleen, Robin, and Theresa provided Dolly with around the clock care as she battled dementia. We will be forever grateful for their thoughtfulness and dedication to her care. We also wish to recognize Dolly's childhood friend, Sue, who was always there for her.
Forever in our hearts.
